Zhen Huan reluctantly prepares to meet the Emperor.

Zhen Huan is chosen by the Emperor, who seems to recognise something about her. While devastated that she must now leave her family, she is determined to do well in the palace.

Consort Hua shows her true colours when she harshly punishes a petty bully, however, the darker nature of the palace soon reveals itself to Zhen Huan when she makes a horrifying find.

Zhen Huan becomes sick after witnessing the corpse, and calls upon her friend, Dr Wen, for assistance. Meanwhile, the Emperor takes increasing interest in Shen Meizhuang.
