After weeks of assessing the would-be stars from the comfort of their sofas, viewers at home now receive their first chance to voice their opinions via a public vote that will decide which act will be progressing to the contest's penultimate round.

Emma Willis and Marvin Humes announce the results of this week's public vote. For the first time this series, coaches Will.i.am, Paloma Faith, Ricky Wilson and Boy George have handed over control of the contest to the viewers at home, who ultimately decide which of the eight remaining contestants will be progressing through to the semi-final.

The semi finals arrive, along with the nail-biting tension associated with another round of live performances. The remaining contestants must once master their nerves and take to the stage to determine whether the tutelage they've received at the hands of Will.i.am, Ricky Wilson, Paloma Faith and Boy George has paid off. As was the case last week, the identities of those would-be stars progressing through to the grand final will be decided by the viewers at home, who are encouraged to take part in a public vote to determine which act will leaving the contest.
