Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka embark on a passionate love affair. Then missing schoolgirls Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French are found dead, and a battered and bruised Homolka tells police Bernardo is the murderer.

Karla Homolka tells the police her husband Bernardo recorded videos of his assaults on schoolgirls Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. Police are unable to find the tapes, despite an exhaustive search.

Paul Bernardo's lawyers find the videotapes of the assaults on Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. The tapes reveal Homolka is complicit in the crimes. Unaware of this new information, prosecutors make a controversial deal with Homolka.

Paul Bernardo receives a life sentence for the murders of Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. However, much to many people's horrer Karla Homolka serves just 12 years before she goes free.
